Hear ye, hear ye, to all ye swabbies we announce the first annual SIYC boat decorating contest in conjunction with the most hazardous cruise, the Cruise to SIYC. Should you dare to venture across these hazardous waters to SIYC beware. There be sea monsters and other sundry evils to be wary of. Should you survive the voyage, those who arrive will be invited to participate in a boat decorating contest judged by none other than our one-eyed Pier Chairman Captain Evil Chandler and his motley breed of pirates, the Pier Committee.
The theme in keeping with the pandemic is, Safer Onboard. Those hearty souls who dare to make the voyage and participate will be awarded handsomely with many a fine, pirated treasures. First prize is your own slip for the remainder of the 2020 season at no charge, second prize includes many doubloons worth of fine dining, and of course for the looser, there’s the plank! We have arranged for a special guest appearance by our fine friend, the croc of Peter Pan fame. He has promised the losers will be a delightful after dinner snack for him. So be warry lest you become an after-dinner tidbit for our hungry gatorfriend.
Despite his obvious lack of fairness, Captain Evil has decided to award the prize to the boats that demonstrate the best thematic content, creativity, crew involvement, technical merit, and overall presentation. He has also indicated all gold bribes will be accepted.
Signup for the cruise is limited so do so ASAP in the Pirates Lounge on the lower lever of the SIYC Galion. I am told there may be a special feast of Chesapeake crustaceans that day if Lady Anissa is let out of the brig by the evil Commodore. Sign up in the hallway behind the bar for slip assignments.
